Description:

The '3:09 Special' came through town at a regular time each day, a C&O line. I was pushing my daughter down the street when I heard the train whistle for the crossing ahead. I pulled her to the crossing quickly and we watched it zoom by headed out of town. Some things get cemented in ones head like the 3:09.
