Description
Urangan Pier in Hervey Bay Qld is a popular place for fishing or for tourists who like to stroll along its 886 metre length. the pier, originally 1107 metres long was once a busy shipping port exporting sugar, timber and coal. Its use declined and it fell into disrepair and in 1985 demolition was commenced. A huge public outcry saw demolition ceased and the pier has since been restored.
