Drawing - Pen And Ink Illustration
This is an illustration of the Philadelphia and Columbia Railroad's Tioga. This is an early 4-4-0 American Type locomotive, built in 1848 by the Norris Brothers. These earlier engines still had smoke box mounted cylinders and lacked a spread front truck. They also used a small Bury boiler which restricted steam production. A rigid wheel-base six-wheeled tender was also in common use at the time.
