Description
The Titicaca Grebe (also called the Titicaca flightless grebe and short-winged grebe, Rollandia microptera) is endemic to Lake Titicaca and some nearby lakes and rivers on the high central Andean altiplano in Peru and Bolivia. It is reportedly flightless and an endangered species; birds are often trapped in fishing nets, pollution from growing towns on the shore of and near Lake Titicaca is another threat.
