To Be Seen
Photograph - Photography
Catching this beautiful Bobcat with my camera was exciting. I wanted a great shot and was caught up in the technical, lighting and form and framing, when I was suddenly pulled into the moment by the way he was looking at me -- not just gazing in my direction, but actually looking *at* me. Even more unexpected was the benevolence and serenity I saw in his eyes. I am a definite animal lover but not one to romanticize - but in that moment, I felt as if he acknowledged me and consented to my presence. He allowed me three shots, gave me a slow and deliberate blink, and then withdrew. I have photographed many animals but have rarely felt so honored not to see, but to be seen.
