this is incredible, very beautiful and powerful, i feel like this is a young innocent solider who has died already and is following the one and only sun of god in the field of dreams of heaven, looking for the reason why he has that uniform on, only to realize, the federal reserve system was making money, and the uniform is just a burden to his adventure through the beautiful world under the sun of god

Richard Harpum replied:

Thanks, Chas, Much appreciated. Your interpretation is an interesting one, that no one else has articulated before. So thanks for that. Best wishes, Richard

PLEASE DO NOT MISUNDERSTAND this is not vote solicitation by Richard Harpin and I have no relation to him....but in the contest "Strength" this guys beautiful panting of devotion, commitment, sacrifice is running second to an image of a dirt bike being being ridden by Son while Dad looks on....I don't know why photography always seems to trump paintings on FAA. Hope this may change the outcome of the contest....there are 5 votes between the two....

Richard Harpum replied:

John, Thanks again for the support. I enjoyed looking through your portfolio. There's some great work there. Have added you to my watch list. Best wishes, Richard

Halifax, NS - Canada

I find it hard to believe that this wonderful painting depicting strength, devotion, commitment and sacrifice is not in first place in this contest!!!!!! VOTED and will fav. immediately in hopes that others may change the outcome of this contest "Strength"

Richard Harpum replied:

John, Thanks for the kind words and your support. Much appreciated.

A nice rendition in visual art that seems to follow the great poem "In Flanders Fields" by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918). Wonder if this was your intent. Your "Tommy" is, though, a universal theme of the lone soldier facing a new day, or possibly the sunset of his day. Beautiful.

Richard Harpum replied:

Thanks, Robert. Yes, it was my intent to remind viewers of John McCrae's poem. I actually repeat this on my web site. I enjoyed looking through your gallery. Excellent work.
