Description:

This is from the Tool Series started in 1990. Into a rustic chair frame, I add elements of culture: tools, oars, paddles, barn strap hinges ---things that remind of other times, other uses--yet fit withing the structure of a "chair". In my studio now, I have two chairs with oars and I'm working on one with old garden implements. Contact me for details

Thanks, Lorraine. I learned to make chairs while living in a NYC apartment and my sense of design got formed by small spaces... But let's talk about you! That fiber work is numinous. Such powerful ambiguity of image and theme. I'm so pleased to see your work

Love this piece. I've seen many art chairs, believe it or not, being involved in a fine craft medium myself. This one has wonderful balance, colours, textures, great sense of fun. I look forward to seeing more.
