When I first saw this, the only thing I really noticed was that guy climbing on the front. Not the 3 on the side.
Originally, I thought this wouldn't be that hard to color. Trains are black. Pretty much. But as you get into it, they aren't, This one one has brown details, rust, oil spills (that iridescent color is on all trains that have issues with oil running down them). I added color sparingly because trains are black. But being black or almost monotone, allows the workers to stand out better. I was really hoping the wheels on this were red, but this train has no real color.
The workers colors, came from a 1930's stock photo. I was always intending the uniforms would be blue, but the guy in that photo was wearing that exact color shirt, which adds some nice pop. The hard part was figuring out where the straps of the overalls were.
This train was very hard to find. In order to color anything you need to do research. And this train, the K4s, there are only 2 that exist now.
