Hi, Helena. I'm Sharon...65. I've done all kinds of art...pencil portraits, carving emu eggs, painting my art car, making life size animals from sheets of plywood, sculpting with clay, teaching art to homeschoolers, etc...Last year I decided to reinvent myself as an artist and am going for a degree in graphic design. Along with this I'm taking Oils...for the first time as they weren't something I felt I could get into with 4 kids. This semester we've been asked to do a self-portrait choosing a mentor and executing in his/her style. I searched for someone who I would care to learn from (after all, I'm not new to portraits) and I came across your "Transition." I fell in love with your style. I have a tendency to work very meticulously, tightly, and just can't seem to loosen up. I can't really learn from abstract masters because they go too far for me. But your work resonates and I think I can do a self-portrait in that way. So just so you won't be sold...I won't copy your style on any of my other paintings...its just for this assignment and just for me. But I hoped you'd be flattered to know that you inspired me.
