The cypress trees are so interesting in the glades of South Florida...The roots crawl along the ground to form 'knees'. Those knees are lumps that stick up and grab the water and nutrients, bringing them back to the tree and it's leaves. Cypress trees love water and are always found along rivers and even growing in the creeks and marshy areas around the tropics. The roots of this special tree in Grassy Waters Preserve resembled an octopus' tentacles, presented here in black and white...
