Your right Ben, Ronnie always considered themselves the "Stones" of America. He definitely wanted to tell the world and the Stones directly that day "your #2 now"..

Ben Upham replied:

Indeed they did! I Love that footage as they step out onto the Tongue!!!

Love this every time I see it! Awesome...Congratulations, Ben!

Ben Upham replied:

Thank You Diannah! I saw the original band 4 times and these photos really help take me right back to the moment! I am so glad to find ways of getting them seen and enjoyed by people who appreciate the energy that they captured! Have a Fine Art Day!

Later this same year in Knebworth England, Ronnie ordered his "mules" on the edge of Mick Jaggers custom stage design (tounge) against Jaggers orders. LOL Jagger confronted Van Zant moments after Free Bird ended to a frenzy of 250,000 fans on Stones turf. Van Zant spun around, laughing at Jagger and further infuriating him. Jaggers tone escelated, Ronnie clenched his right fist and cocked back. Jagger backed off, turned and ran. It took the Stones hours to regroup, having been blown right off the stage by America's hottest touring band and narrowly escaping the wrath of RVZ. Congrats BEN!

Ben Upham replied:

Great story Thomas! Had never heard in quite such detail! The Irony is that Jagger and the Stones were one of the main reasons that Ronnie ever wanted to be a Rock Musician!
