Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
This is a 2013 acrylic painting of Tunnels Beach, Kauai on a
24x12 stretched canvas. Tunnels Beach, also called Makua
Beach, is one of the top snorkeling locations on the north
side of Kauai off Kuhio Highway. When we visited in June, the
snorkeling was top shelf in the inner reef and the water was calm and warm.
The outer reef area you will find surfers and divers exploring the caverns.
While snorkeling I remember a fish following me around for hours like
my best little buddy even with barracuda, eels, turtles and other sea life
swimming about. We went back four times but also went up the
road to Kee Beach which is also a fun place to snorkel.
The scenery is surreal and the sand gets incredibly hot during
summer but this is a must hit location for sportsmen on my favorite
island without the spa type hoopla. I decided to pain this scene as the
beauty was breathtaking and we spent a solid week perusing
the North side of Kauai. The water in the distant was somewhat of an
ultramarine color and faded into a teal with green and yellow in the shallow shore with mid sun reflecting.
I tried to somewhat duplicate the ever changing and erratic cloud formations you
will see forming upon the green mountains.
Hope you enjoy this especially if you have visited or lucky enough
to live in this paradise.
