This turtle dove built a nest in a hanging basket that we had on our back porch. They didn't seem to be scared of people, We could walk by and take pictures. The only time they flew away was when there were two of us and we were on either side. I guess that made him nervous, so we didn't do that again. They seemed to never leave the nest from the time they laid the eggs until the babies left the nest. From what I read the female spent the night on the nest and the male took the daytime shift, sitting on the eggs then with the babies. This pair had two babies in the nest. After the babies flew out of the nest they built a nest on our front porch and had 3 babies in that one. We are hoping they return next spring and start over again, it was fun to watch them grow.
