Painting - Oil / Canvas
I wanted to paint more of an impressionist painting of this Italian Tuscan landscape so I experimented with palette knife and heavy brush texture to achive sort of a three dimentional feeling. I also used pure color direct from the tubes to help strengthen the late afternoon contrast and Tuscany evening feeling while accenting the wheat colors from the grape vines and creating a perception of distance with the transition of purple hills into the blue sky.
I never seem to get tired of painting the Mediterranean area be it Southern France, Italy or Spain, the ambience and colours of this region is unique in my opinion.
The are many places in this world that I am sure equal this but I guess it is the western's world history I am most familiar with that does it for me.
