Painting - Oil / Canvas
This Italian Tuscan farm house in the Val d'Orcia Tuscany, surrounded by yellow and gold hills and fields is one of the most photographed pieces of architecture in Tuscany. I made it my mission to find the house during one of my earlier trips to Italy before the internet made things easier to locate. Driving south through the area of Crete Senesi (Crater region) I found various fascinating hillside roads and quaint abandoned farm houses on my way to the town of San Quirico d'Orcia. The long drive prompted me to pull over and have a rest overlooking a valley and there to my amazement was "The House" nestled neatly below framed by the distant Monte Amiata. My mission was complete I returned home and painted my own version of this iconic Italian landmark. Val d'Oorcia is now a UNESCO World Heritage Region.
