This is one of my favorites. Also, thanks for your own comments below indicating your technical process a bit. Understand it.

I draw the shape and paint around it, or lay in washs, then draw in the element and paint behind and between. After awhile you can paint the negative spaces without sketching them. Its like painting behind a hand and between the splayed fingers instead of the hand itself. Most paintings are a mix of painting around the penciled elements and the spontanious technique of painting behind things that arent yet there. Practice with large, simple flowing shapes like waves and take it from there.

I love this one a lot, too. This is my other probably-favorite of your pieces, and I hope you'll add this one to the Visionary Art group page, too. Delicate, sweet, soft colors and exquisite drawing and rendering in the hand, face, eye; bright colors, below; earth colors, above; I love it. I have one question: do you use masking fluid (for instance, to paint the birds)? If so, how do you keep it from balling up & getting all gummy? I'm in awe of your work. Beautiful - thank you!

Ok, I think this is my favorite, oh, it will change tomorrow, I could pick one painting for each day of the month. Thanks for commenting on my work called " Tangerine Parasols ".I actually saw on some cultural show , dont remember where, a temple with this kind of daily atmosphere. Thats what inspired me to paint this . So, places like this do exist but tucked away in precious hidden corners of the Earth.

Dear Helena, I totally love all your works, and especially this one ! I really love what you wrote about this piece also ! All your works are so incredibly gorgious and with such powerful spiritual looks about them, causing the viewer to look deeper and deeper, into each piece, to try and uncover the hidden mysteries behind them !

I love your paintings! They are so mystical and full of symbolism. I'm partial to this one and the Medicine Hand one as I do Energy work and really appreciate how you captured the flow of energy from the hand. Wonderful work! :)
