Two Nude Victorian Women At The Baths C. 1851
This is based upon the daguerreotype THE BATHS c. 1851 by French photographer Felix-Jacques Moulin.
He set up a photography shop and immediately began taking photos of young women in the area. When the locals viewed some of his photos, they were outraged and deemed them so obscene for the times that even the titles he gave them could not be uttered. He was jailed briefly.
After his release, he continued with his studies of women, but had a back door installed to his studio that allowed for discreet activity. Despite early condemnation, his portfolio of work gained esteem from the critics.
