Painted in 1914. Portrait of Isaac James Ross (1844-1920), uncle of L. A. Ramsey. Isaac was a veteran of the Civil War and a farmer of Illinois and Utah. He was born in Noblesville, Indiana to Jabez Winship Ross and Martha Ann Hurlock. Deeply religious, he was the first of the Ross and Ramsey family to join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, after which he migrated to Payson, Utah. He died in Provo, Utah and was buried in nearby Payson.
