Under The Hill
Drawing - Mixed Media
My childhood years were filled with nursery rhymes and fairy tales, some of which were never really left behind. As a little girl I never thought to question the sense of them or ponder over their meanings. They simply were what they were -- entertainment and joy -- and I cherished them.
This is one that stayed tucked away in my brain over the years despite being constantly attacked by demands to replace it with dry scholarly facts or later, the necessary mundane thoughts of everyday living. With its value unrecognized in childhood, it remained safe so that someday it would reveal itself in my artwork.
This is a highly detailed piece rendered using India ink and Prismacolor pens.
