Oil pastel on 2" cradled hardboard of a bass fish. This is panel # 3 of Triple panel painting. This is panel 2 of a 3 panel set. The subject matter: three very common fresh water predators found in lakes and rivers: the Bass, the Pike and the Walleye. This work consists of three two inch cradled hard boards, which can be hung various ways by positioning the panels in different proximity to each other. This allows you the option to vary the look the work and make a different overall image and impression when you switch out the panels or move them closer or farther from each other. The medium I used is oil pastel, using three main techniques to apply the pigments: thin washes, blended layering, and sgraffito through the thicker layered areas to reveal colors below and to add texture and depth. The panel sizes are: smaller panels ( 11 x 14) and the larger panel is (16 x 20). If displayed together with the edges flush together the total width is 38 with the height as high approximately 18. The panels are ready to hang complete with saw tooth hangers mounted on each panel. The surface of the painting was sprayed with high quality varnish to seal and protect the surface. The two inch cradled sides were stained black, and also sprayed with a varnish to seal in the stain and protect the surface. Each panel has been dated and signed.
