This is what is popularly known as the UT Tower, which is the Main Building at the University of Texas at Austin. This photograph was taken during the onset of a thunderstorm before the rain had begun to pour. It was designed by Paul Cret of Philadelphia and was completed in 1937. According to the University of Texas website, "the Tower has served as the University's most distinguishing landmark and as a symbol of academic excellence and personal opportunity." They light up the tower with a "1" and illuminate the walls with burnt orange whenever the longhorns win a sporting event. This is the one of many examples of the architectural beauties around the University of Texas at Austin.
