What I love about this image may be the last thing you notice; I love the red book that becomes a stage for the supporting cast, who are no slumps by the way.
Who doesn't love hydrangeas? This work has a very cool feel to it. As a desert dweller I enjoy that; I can imagine what that cool shade would feel like. I would imagine that if you expanded the scene you'd find a brick patio with a hint of moss here and there. The old bricks providing a refreshing chill on a summer day.
I titled the work 'Verdigris' because that's the color of the old copper vessels which hold the flowers. Left to the elements they become a soft blue color tinged with shades of turquoise.
