I woke up early in the morning as the cruise ship I recently was on approached Naples, Italy, and from my balcony I saw out of the morning mist the shapes of giraffes appearing in silhouette against the slightly more distant double peak of Vesuvius. Of course it wasn't early morning by a waterhole on the African savannah with Kilimanjaro in the background, and the giraffes were just loading cranes in the harbour area, but there was still something very peaceful about this mechanised Italian version of an African morning, and so I had to grab my camera for a few pictures of the scene.
