Richard De Wolfe
Painting - Alkyd On Canvas
This is a Noble German Warmblood gelding. His registered name was Monarch, although we called him Archie around the barn. He was my wife's dressage horse and together they competed nationally up to the Prix St. George level before Archie was retired from competition. His long, floppy ears were very distinctive and horses like him are said to have lop ears. He was a very powerful horse with a strong constitution and he lived to be thirty years old, when he passed away due to old age.
