Walled Fields Near Bagram
Photograph - Photo
Afghans love their walls! There are walls around their homes as well as fields. These fields are near Bagram Air Base, which is about 4800 feet of elevation. The climate is quite similar to Albuquerque, New Mexico. The deep rows are probably grapes or a type of mellon. Unlike most parts of the country, tractors were used in this area since it was quite wealthy. In most parts of Afghanistan the plowing is still done with a mule pulling the plow.
