Pat, this is so beautiful, it seems as if I'm looking at it in person! We have the beautiful painting you gave us here with us in NC! It's my favorite! Lots of love from Gerardo, his mom and the kids, Rebecca Bush

Pat, I just realized why I like this one the best of all your paintings, it is the dark background. It just makes the lights that much brighter. And they are masterfully rendered. They are so dark, but still have transparency. I hope to see you incorporate more of these gorgeous darks into your painting background. As well, it doesn't look cut and paste because you were able to lose edges where the values were the same in the flowers. Very stunning work. Have you ever competed with this painting?
Pat Yager replied:
What a lovely, thoughtful comment, Sandra! There's an interesting story behind this one. As I first tried to analyze the colors in the photo I'd taken, it seamed that the center color was orange. So, on went the orange - bright, bright orange! And it was absolutely AWFUL! I knew I had ruined it! But it had take so long to draw it that I decided to at least use it for practicing. Little by little the garish orange became subdued as other colors took their place around it. And to my great surprise, this is how it ended up! The funny thing, when I showed it to my daughter, she said, "Mom, I think it's upside down!" And, sure enough, I had indeed painted the whole piece upside down! Now the unopened blossoms are in their rightful place at the top of the painting! This painting is to me a wonderful illustration of how God can take our ugly, garish, and even upside down lives and patiently work them into lives of beauty, wholeness and completeness. I am so thankful for His patient, forgiving love for me! ~ Pat

Pat, are you kidding me? I can't believe with your skill and ability you are watching me! I am watching you my dear. This is incredible. I could only hope to paint to this level someday. My word. You totally ROCK! Blessings and I am watching you!
Pat Yager replied:
Oh, Sandra, you are so sweet! You know, I am learning more literally every day about painting, and much of what I learn, I learn from other artists' work, including you, my friend! I am still awestruck by the snow painting you created in only 30 minutes! And without snow to look at, to boot! There are so many wonderful watercolor instruction books available now, too, that really add to a committed artist's knowledge of techniques, composition, you name it! And thanks for adding me to your Watchlist - I am honored!
