Description
This is the spot where the two branches of Kitchen Creek come together to merge in Ricketts Glen State Park. It is called the "Waters Meet Point". This is a popular meeting location for hikers because it is the central hub of the waterfall trails in the "Glens Natural Area" of the park. It also boasts the only actual park bench along all of the hiking trails.
I decided to photograph this site after the sun had already disappeared behind the ridge of Ganoga Glen. The shot was captured during the astronomical summer solstice of 2014. The waterfall that is visible off in the distance is Wyandot Falls, on the Glen Leigh trail.
This photograph was recorded with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens on a Canon EOS 5D DSLR body. The aperture was set to f/8, shutter speed 1.0 second exposure, at the 40mm focal length. ISO setting was set to 100.
Ricketts Glen State Park is located at the junction of RT-118 and RT 487 in Fairmount Township, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, PA, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre, PA.
