Description
Also available without the smoky border. I took this picture in Sighisoara, Romania. The weathervane is clearly a boy, but I'm not sure whether he is playing a recorder or a clarinet. In medieval times, the best way for a city to be safe was to surround it with immense stone walls. Few of these citadel cities have survived to modern times; Sighisoara is one of the most beautiful and well preserved such sites, with many wonderful examples of medieval architecture. For this reason, the town has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
