Michel, your subjects are all quite interesting. Do you take them on the road, where ever you happen to be? Where are some of them taken? Seems like a place far away...
Michel Verhoef replied:
Thanks Debra ! Most of them are taken during holidays...so technically spoken they are holidayshots :-))

Michel, it is always so exciting to see another country's local dancers, and since I won't be going there any time too soon, I just love that you brought this great moment and capture to us..........another word for these dervishes is 'dybbyck' (sp).....it was my nickname as a child , little did I realize, it was because I never ever stayed still !!! ....fv.......VIVA
Michel Verhoef replied:
Hi Dybibyck 😂 I will call you that than, if I can remember it...lol...it was taken in Istanbul which still is peaceful for the time being, but one never knows since Erdogan reigns there...thanks for you lovely words !

I love the almost ghostly appearance. I saw them as a child and it was magical, you've definitely captured that here.
Mary Machare
You have captured their movement quite well, Michel, in this beautifully composed black and white. vf

This movement is charming and involving the viewers into the dance, love your choice of low angle and movement blur! Excellent low light photography, Michel!
