Wild West Train Ride Along The Animas River From Durango To Silverton Colorado

The historic Durango to Silverton Steam Locomotive Train Excursion has been a highly popular Colorado tourist attraction since 1882. It is one of America's few surviving Narrow Gauge (3 feet betweeen the rails) Railroads. It runs along the Animas River in Animas Canyon in the San Juan Mountains. It is a National Historic Landmark as well as an Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. It has a coal-fired steam engine and stops en route for water refilling from water tanks at Hermosa, Tank Creek and the Needleton Water tank.
