Painting - Watercolor / Paper
A winter landscape, the fields are bare, the crops have been safely stored in the barn to feed the cattle for the season. These type of wooden Barns hark back to another era, one of horse drawn buggies and ploughs and rusty metal tractor seats.
While out looking for something to paint I was struck by how farming as changed over the past few years, slowly these farm fortresses are disappearing in favour of low slung structures and round metal buildings. Gone are the horses and related ploughing equipment replaced by large combines and those large dual tired a John Deers. This particular Barn had weathered time well it still looked stately and sturdy so I stopped my car and proceeded to paint this piece with watercolor, later finishing it in my studio.
