Temperatures in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, can reach incredible lows during the winter season. As the temperatures plunge well below zero overnight, the fog and steam freeze creating an ethereal appearance in the early morning hours as temperatures rise. Mud volcano is one geyser basin, in particular, which offers winter visitors a close up and unique view. As the sun rises and the temperatures moderate the views are continually changing creating unique opportunities for the brave winter visitor.
