Title
Woman with a Red Comb
Artist
Michael Henderson
Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
Oil on high quality Italian canvas, tacked along the sides. The sides are not painted, so the painting should be framed for hanging.
There is nothing in this painting that is actually meant to represent a woman, although there are certain elements that could be a figure. It is very brightly colored and most interesting. It would be a great way to start a real art collection.
The painting will be shipped on stretcher bars in a box or wooden crate via UPS.

Hi, I'm back...just had to see what would jump out at my on my third (or is it fourth?) :) time through your site. Some (no, wait, nearly all) of your paintings have an additional interest to me besides the obvious aesthetics...that is, the storymaking in which my mind engages as I look at them. Maybe it's a highly sophisticated effect like the Rorsharch (spelling?) tests, where the message one interprets is a mirror of experiences... but in this one, I see a woman almost scrambling against a backdrop awareness of an hyper-media environment (perhaps she's an actress, or model, or public speaker) to keep up appearances; her dressing room is a chaos of cosmetic tools; already in her mind, cameras are flashing, spotlights are blinding her; she is both excited about (re)becoming the image others believe her to be, and persistently nervous...what if she doesn't get it right this time? Who will be her friends, then?
