Description:

This painting was done from a photograph which I took from a boat as we travelled across the lake in the city of Udaipur, India. A familiar, yet entirely intimate scene. The women's brightly coloured clothes shimmer like jewels in the reflections, which contrast the earth colours of the decaying plastered walls. An irresistible sight to capture in paint. "Women Washing by the Lake, Udaipur" won the K and M Evans Trading Ltd. award at the Irish Water Colour Society annual exhibition 2008.
