Dear Van, Since you are one of the most popular, prolific, fine artists at FAA and elsewhere, I have a question. Do folks in your hometown also appreciate your art? I sure hope so, because you are out of this world.

Amazingly well done! and a great departure for you. I think it's good to test ourselves, push ourselves in new ways to keep growing and I see you think so as well. I do works after other artists as well...I hope people understand the purpose and the grand history of learning this way and of moving the form forward by re-visiting an artist or an artwork this way.

continuing my comment ...It is NOT forgery or even considered copying per se. Van Gogh often did it as did Faith Ringgold and numerous other artists. Famously, of course Picasso and Georges Braque intentionally "copied" each other as they developed Cubism. For a while they did not sign their works or signed on the back.

This reminds me of Charles M. Russel paintings of the west. I have one his prints in my studio for inspiration. This painting renders a beautiful story. Beautiful job. Sean.
