The WWII Torsk SS-423 Submarine got its name from a gadoid fish, a relation to the cod fish, found in the North Atlantic. Torsk is Norwegian in origin. The USS Torsk SS-423 is one of two surviving Tench-class Fleet submarines and is open for tourists in the Inner Harbor outside of the National Baltimore Aquarium.
