Painting - Oil On Canvas
Fans in overcoats. Bunting. Box seats, $7.20. A World Series at Wrigley Field? You bet it is! It's 1945. The Cubs vs the Detroit Tigers. Due to wartime travel restrictions, the first three games were played in Detroit, the Cubs winning Games 1 and 3. The Series then shifted to the Windy City, to the corner of Clark and Addison, where the Tigers roared back to take Games 4 and 5. The Cubs then forced a pivotal seventh game by notching an 8-7, 12-inning triumph in Game 6. Hank Borowy, who had pitched five innings as the starter in Game 5 and four innings of relief in Game 6, was the Cubs' starter in Game 7. Three batters into the game (three singles and a run) he was lifted. The Tigers scored five first-inning runs and were never threatened, rolling to a 9-3 victory and the World Championship. Original Painting was sold at auction. Only prints available.
