Yellow Buttercup by Christina Rollo. Buttercups are mostly herbaceous perennials, annuals or biennials, with bright yellow flowers. A few species have white, orange or red flowers. There are usually five petals, occasionally six. The petals are lustrous, especially in yellow species. Buttercups usually flower in the spring, but flowers may be found throughout the summer.
