Yin And Yang Double-trilobite Fossil Pendant
Jewelry - Trilobite Double Fossil And Sterling Silver-filled Wire
This piece is truly special... You are viewing an incredibly rare trilobite pendant, in which two fossilized Elrathia kingi (trilobite species) laid to rest next to each other, and were naturally preserved this way-- together for eternity. I personally (and painstakingly) extracted this exquisite fossil from a mortality plate; a slice of shale in which multiple organisms perished, nearly half a billion years ago. Trilobites were among the earliest animals to appear on Earth and now you can wear this exquisite piece of natural history, and carry it with you, wherever you go.
This fossil was wrapped in genuine Sterling silver-filled wire and suspended on an adjustable braided black leather cord (may be substituted for an 18"-long silver-plated chain, upon request for no additional charge). All the wire-work was woven by-hand and the entire pendant, base to bail, measures 61x31x10mm (2.4" x 1.2" x 0.4").
The original mortality plate from which this fossil was extracted, came from the Wheeler Shale, located in Millard County, near Antelope Springs, Utah. Trilobites disappeared from the face of the Earth in a mass extinction that occurred approximately 250 million years, just prior to the rise of the earliest dinosaurs in the fossil record. Trilobites evolved on Earth approximately 540 million years ago.
Your pendant will arrive in a jeweler's box with an information card about the fossil, packaged securely in a bubble envelope and ship with tracking, direct from my studio to your chosen destination. Makes a great gift!
