Sculpture - Steel And Cementious Stone
The forms of this sculpture are made with a cementious mix that in part includes portland cement along with other ingredients. The manufacturer describes the material as engineered, or man made stone. This family of materials are what is used when dealing with wind erosion, acid rain and other forces that erode exterior cornices, friezes, carvings, castings and other stone or ceramic ornamental exterior features on buildings. Cementious mixes build these exterior building features back up to their original specs and imagery in the architectural reconstruction of the building facade. This family of materials is time and field proven to be completely weather impermeable to the full spectrum of weather circumstances. The forms of this sculpture are developed while affixed to a welded steel armature and steel achoring plate. The patina is a cold copper coating system. To this caustic acids are applied. The corrosive effects of these acids produce the chemical reactions that create patinas of various colors rather than through the use of the traditional open flame. Hense, the term "cold " patina. Finally a long enduring clear coat material with UV inhibitors is applied which halts the progression of the patina by sealing it off from the atmosphere and stabilizes the surface. Signed on the center back of the bottom plate of the sculpture between the hind legs and tail. Mounted on a marble base.
