This group is for artists and photographers on the autism spectrum only. This means that the FAA member who joins MUST be on the spectrum, and not an advocate or family member. This is important to me because I want to know that the autistic artist wants their work promoted and is not being thrust into the public's eye by someone who's trying to help.
NOTE: I am not accepting any new artwork from current group artists as I am trying to get more new user participation.
RULES: (Please read these - I will remove members who don't follow these simple rules without notice.)
1. You must be on the autism spectrum to join or participate in this group or to submit art.
2. You MUST do any one of the following:
a) Introduce yourself by clicking on the DISCUSSION tab above and adding to the 'Hello' thread. It doesn't have to be long, just as much as you feel comfortable sharing.
b) Send me a private message by clicking on my name on the right and using the Private Message option and tell me you're on the specturm
c) Mention that you're on the spectrum in your FAA bio, which I will check if you don't do A or B above.
d) Have an external link to your personal or business website where you state that you are on the spectrum. That will be my final check.
I AM SERIOUS ABOUT THIS. There are many NTs who will join a group without checking rules just to get their art seen.
3. At present, there is a limit of 5 submissions per day. This number will be reduced as more artists join the group and I am unable to keep up with submissions. I will send out a notice to all members before I put this restriction in place. Since I don't know how popular this group will be, I cannot estimate when I'll have to add this restriction.
4. This group is open to artists in all media supported by Fine Art America.
In the interest of full disclosure, I am not on the autism spectrum, but my sweetheart is. I am managing this group because she thought it may be too difficult for her to interact as the administrator of a group.
We look forward to seeing your art.
