Beautiful Scenery - a picturesque view or landscape

About This Group

TO OUR VISITORS: The images featured here on our home page are samples of the art on the following pages. You'll be captivated by the quality, variety of styles and subjects, and the beauty of the works by our artists. Please take a moment to peek behind the front door (home page) and enter our living room (image pages). The welcome mat is out:>)

Scenery is defined as a picturesque view or landscape. For this group I want to see the very best of 'picturesque views or landscapes'. This is not for snapshots and general photos of places, but rather for those images imbued with a sense of special character or extraordinary beauty. They should evoke a response in the viewer (in this case, me) such as 'WOW'.

NOTE TO VISITORS: YOU ARE INVITED TO COME INTO OUR 'BACK ROOM' WHERE WONDERFUL WORKS OF ART ARE WAITING. YOU ARE WELCOME 24/7 - WE ARE NEVER CLOSED!

This group is also for those images that take in a wide area of interest (fields, mountains, ocean, beach, skylines, gardens) not a specific item (plant, tree, flower, person, sculpture). For this group an image of a sculpture park or garden is great, but a feeling of a greater space has to be there, not the sense that a specific sculpture or fountain, for instance, is the picture.

Be certain to adhere to good taste, and keep images in the realm of family viewing.

All media are welcome with the exception of abstracts, fractals, etc., that aren't recognizable as scenery. Sorry! I love those disciplines but they just don't fit here.

Enhanced photos, paintings, drawings, are all welcome.

Images that are almost alike or duplicated in different colors will be pared down to one choice by me. It's better if you chose your favorite version and post only the one.

Please follow the guidelines as images that aren't in line with the group theme will be removed. Only the best work will be accepted - work with an emotional and visual appeal.

There will be regular features of artists' works, and I will have a featured artist once every four weeks with four of their works, their biography, and a link to their gallery on the group home page.

With all the exceptional art here on FAA, we should have an exceptional group!

This section is reserved for our featured artist. Every four (4) weeks the artist will change, giving everyone an opportunity to see some of the work of our talented members. A link to the artist's gallery is below; take a few minutes to visit and browse - you'll be delighted with what you find:>)

Our artist for this rotation is Demeter Gui. You can find his gallery here:

His paintings are a delight to behold.

BIOGRAPHY:

Demeter Gui
Budapest - Hungary

Demeter Gui was born in Carei (Nagykároly) in the region of Transylvania in Romania in 1949.
He studied arts, drawing and sculpting in his hometown Carei (Nagykároly) and in Cluj (Kolozsvár) at the local high school training artists. After leaving school, he had been dealing with sculpting for long decades, mainly focusing in religious arts. His marble altars and baptising basins can be seen in Catholic churches throughout Transylvania (he planned and sculpted these artistic objects himself).
He settled in Hungary in 2002, where he returned to his original profession, painting.
