Schooners

About This Group

Welcome aboard

This group is for paintings or sketches of schooners of any type and in any media or mixed media. It is especially for your artwork of working schooners designed for fisihing, or trading, as illustrated in the painting to the left which I chose to represent this group. She is the 3-masted coasting schooner, Jennie M. Carter She is typical of the many coasting or trading schooners which carried the lifeblood of commerce from port to port along the worlds' coasts before the advent of railroads and super highways. You can read more about the ill-fated Jennie M. Carter on my Blog, here on FAA.

Please limit your entries to Schooners defined above and as: Any of various types of sailing vessel having a foremast and mainmast, with or without other masts, and having fore-and-aft sails on all lower masts. IF YOUR ENTRY DOES NOT MEET THAT DEFINITION, IT WILL BE REJECTED

If you are an artist or photographer, I hope you will join me in populating this group with your schooner paintings, photos and sketches. If you appreciate paintings and photos of schooners, I hope you will enjoy this site as it grows. To me, painting one tells a story of maritime history that is fast dissapearing and becoming harder and harder to find in this modern age
