The technical Definition of Street Photography from Wikipedia: 'Street photography is a genre of photography that features subjects in candid situations within public places and does not necessitate the presence of a street or even the urban environment. 'Street' simply refers to a place where human activity can be seen, a place to observe and capture social interaction. The subject can even be absent of any people and can be that of object or environment where an object projects a human character or an environment is decidedly human.....'
From this definition please put an emphasis on the 'human activity' and the 'social interaction' as much as possible. Please use your discretion when submitting photos whose subject might otherwise be construed as Landscape, Architecture, Portraiture or planes, trains, automobiles. There are most likely a few photos of each of these categories on the page as they are representative of objects in a human environment, however they must not be the bulk of this work.
When I began this page I was excited about capturing the sights of our culture and times after having visited a Gary Winogrand exhibit. His work gave me a heightened sense of appreciation for the art of street photography and what it can mean in the course of human events. I am still excited about capturing the essence of our culture through photos, street photography motivates me to get out there and see the world, and to capture those 'moments' on the streets.
I am looking forward to seeing the world around you, through your eyes! Please limit your image submissions to special moments on the streets and to no more than 1 per day.
