When Ken Kirsch was in
Grade 1, his teacher asked the students to draw the street where they lived. Kirsch drew the picture as though he were standing at the end of the street. At the far end of the picture the houses looked smaller and the road narrowed into a distant point.
“My teacher freaked out,” he
recounted. She held it up for the whole class to see and explained that Kirsch had drawn a perspective painting, something most 6 year olds can’t do.
Over the years, Kirsch continued to be interested in art.
By Grade 6, he was responsible for the backdrops in school plays. After high school (and a brief stint in the insurance industry), he enrolled in Seneca
College’s graphic design program.
As a student at Seneca,
Kirsch gained an appreciation
for painting, although he set it
aside to pursue a career in advertising.

Charleston, WV-- Linda STonestreet's painting "Down the Rabbit Hole" is now available for prints at Fine Art America. In this abstract painting I used a palette knife to achieve the sense of movement. It simulates Alice looking up (or down) as she travels through the rabbit hole. The swirling colors and movement draw you in as she is drawn into Wonderland. One of a series of original oil paintings with swirling imagery. Even though this particular piece has sold, contact the artist for a commission piece with similar imagery.
All of Linda Stonestreet's paintings are painted using professional grade materials for lasting collections. In this piece, like many of her others, the painting image wraps all the way around the gallery wrap stretcher bars. Not only does this give the painting a three-dimensional look but also offers the collector the option to hang 'as is' or to frame.

"My paintings, drawings and collages are a process of storytelling -they are also about a way of life and the events that have changed our lives. I focus on contemporary social and political issues which include the complexities of relationships. Scenes of people at work and play, old houses, churches, baptisms and the struggles of everyday life are my favorite subjects."
