Hattie Larlham And Beck Cafe Host Yin Sisters Artists Reception

A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET THE INTERNATIONALLY-RENOWNED ARTIST PRODIGIES AND VIEW THEIR WORK WITH PROCEEDS GOING TO CHARITY
(TWINSBURG, Ohio) May 14, 2012 – Hattie Larlham and the Beck Café will host an Artist’s Reception for Victoria and Zoe Yin, internationally-known artist siblings, at the Akron Art Museum on Sunday, May 20, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The event will not only offer the unique opportunity to meet the artists, but will also feature a showing of their works alongside a number of pieces from the Hattie Larlham Creative Arts program. Tickets to the reception will cost $75 per person and will include hors d’oeuvres, drinks and complimentary admission to view the galleries of the Akron Art Museum. All proceeds from tickets and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Yin Sisters’ artwork will benefit the Hattie Larlham Creative Arts program.
“We were introduced to the Yin Sisters through the Beck Café. When Victoria and Zoe learned about the Hattie Larlham Creative Arts program and our ability to help artists with disabilities express themselves through painting, pottery, photography and music, they were eager to do a charity event with us. We are truly grateful for their generosity and know that our artists will be excited to see their works on display alongside Victoria and Zoe’s,” said Phylliss Steiner, Director of Creative Arts and Media Productions at Hattie Larlham.

ABOUT THE YIN SISTERS
Victoria Yin, age 14, is an artist, poet and songwriter widely recognized as a child prodigy. Victoria’s paintings articulate profound mature subjects far beyond her years. By age 5, she had already received numerous accolades and awards for her work. Her surrealistic style is considered on the level of Max Ernst, Joan Miro, and Salvador Dali. Victoria incorporates these surrealistic elements into a futuristic style which is unique in the art world.
Zoe Yin, age 11, is an artist and writer. Like her older sister, Zoe is a child prodigy with remarkable artistic talents. At age 8, she was the youngest artist ever exhibited at the International Art Expo. Zoe’s broad brushstrokes and colorful combinations create a dreamy interpretation of the human form.
The Yin sisters, who both began drawing at the age of one, have exhibited across the country and been featured in several publications, including Art Business News. Their paintings, which are widely collected in the U.S., typically command sales in the five figures.

Since the inception of the program in 2007, the Hattie Larlham Creative Arts has grown from six to more than 85 artists working in paint, photography, pottery and poetry. Each artist has a weekly one-on-one session with a tracker, also a professional artist, who helps program participants create by eliciting responses to a series of detailed questions. The process results in carefully crafted, one-of-a-kind pieces that provide a glimpse into the world of artists who often cannot speak for themselves.
