An Earthy Place
My favorite place is
in the forest under the trees
on the cool mossy ground
where it smells fresh and earthy;
where sometimes blueberries and cranberries grow
out of the mossy mounds
and where there are countless
mushrooms of all shapes and sizes;
where pine and spruce scents
waft through the air
and where one can find orchids
and quaint little plants
brightened with filtered sunshine.
That is a healing place like no other.

Born in the pristine wilderness of northern Alberta, Shirley became aware of the beauty and design in nature. It all began by making hundreds of decorative mud pies as a young girl. She was designing pictures and jewellery with seashells in her teenage years, and then moved on to ceramics as a young adult. Shirley always used her creative energy. One constant, though, was her love of photography which began at age 14 when Shirley bought her first camera. Being an art major in the field of education was a big help in improving her photography. After retirement she began selling prints at arts and craft shows. And now Shirley would like to share some of her favorites with you.
