A classic still life grouping, painted in a tradition manner.

Three apples and a kitchen knife set the stage. A plate with grapes, and a cobalt blue wine glass are the supporting characters, the wine glass however, threatens to steal the show.

While the other players merely sit there, the wine glass draws you in. Suddenly you notice the plate and apples reflecting in the glass. And you notice the background, distorted and showing through the glass.

The wine glass is a scene-stealer.

Believe it or not, this is how I think of the items as I paint them. I decide who, or what, should be the center of attention. I always knew the glass would win out over the apples. It began with that beautiful, blue color.

This is a painting that is quiet. It has a relaxed vibe and a graciousness about it. I love it and I hope you do too.
