This is an outstanding piece of work. The aura of Powell River with its resident fishing boats is portrayed beautifully. The vessel “Shirley” is very thought provoking to me personally.

I am very pleased with the quality of the product, and the gift recipient loved it and brought them to tears as it was a sentimental gift.

Artist's Description
This watercolor and gouache painting is one in a series of highly detailed and botanically accurate works that are the result of many hours spent studying and drawing both wild and cultivated plants.
This plant, a member of the Sundew family, is native to Australia, and traps insects on its sticky tentacled leaves. It is one of many climbing or tall sundews. There are about 184 species of Sundews the world over.
Habitat destruction and illegal collecting is a threat to these often delicate and beautiful plants. Fortunately, many plants and cultivars are being grown all over the world by carnivorous plant enthusiasts and businesses who sell the plants. I have been growing, drawing and painting many different species of carnivorous plants since childhood and support the conservation of wetland habitat that these wonderful plants require to survive. About Scott Bennett
I am a landscape painter at heart, with a long apprenticeship to abstraction, and a love for plants, particularly of the carnivorous variety. I have also been a photographer for about as long as I've been a painter, and so you'll see galleries of selected photographs along with my paintings and drawings. I have been growing, photographing and looking at carnivorous plants in the field for most of my life. Orchids, bromeliads, ferns and other plants have caught my eye along the way as well, and recently I have taken to drawing and painting the apples from our trees and the roadside wild flowers at the end of our driveway. The closer you look, the more interesting things get. In the catalogue to the exhibition, The Mirror Eye:...
