I like the case one of a kind
18th century science illustrations. A page taken from the Gentleman's Magazine published in 1754. The main object (figure 1 and 2) is a mechanism that attempts to turn the smallest difference in heat during the day into mechanical force used to wind up a clock. The device uses multiple links and levers to maximise the effect of thermal expansion, then turns this into a winding motion through the cam and wheels at upper left. The remainder of the figures are micro-organisms observed in various samples of flower infusions in water.
